Short-Term Mission
Inspiring Our Church to Grow and Serve
Short-term missions (STM) are more than just an activity—they are a way for us to step into God’s calling to share His love across the world. Through STM, we experience what it means to serve wholeheartedly, deepen our faith, and join together as a church to build God’s kingdom. It’s not just about going; it’s about growing—individually, as a community, and in our understanding of God’s heart for the nations.
As we commit to STM, we’re reminded of the beauty of bringing the Good News to others:
“How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” (Romans 10:15)
STM is a practical way for us to live out the Great Commission:
“Go and make disciples of all nations.” (Matthew 28:19)
But beyond this command, STM is an incredible opportunity to transform lives—ours and others’. Here’s why we’re passionate about it:
Encouraging Spiritual Growth: Stepping out of our comfort zones and relying on God helps us grow in faith and trust. STM challenges and stretches us in ways that lead to lasting spiritual transformation.
Building Relationships: Missions aren’t about one-time trips; they’re about people. STM is a chance to build meaningful and lasting connections with others, walking alongside them in partnership for God’s glory.
Equipping the Church: STM strengthens our church by creating a culture of service and discipleship, where every member is encouraged to participate in God’s work—locally and globally.
Sharing the Gospel: Actions speak louder than words. STM lets us reflect Christ’s love in how we serve, build relationships, and live out our faith in visible, tangible ways.
Learning from Others: STM isn’t about “us helping them.” It’s a two-way blessing. The communities we visit teach and inspire us with their faith, perseverance, and unique expressions of God’s grace.
To make STM impactful and aligned with God’s purpose for our church, we approach it with these guiding principles:
Rooted in Vision: STM is part of our church’s larger mission to grow spiritually and serve faithfully. It’s not just an event—it’s an intentional step in fulfilling our calling.
Partnership, Not Patronage: We go to learn, serve, and build together, not to “save.” Humility, respect, and mutual learning are the foundation of how we engage.
A Church-Wide Effort: STM isn’t just for those who go. It’s a shared journey, with the entire church supporting through prayer, encouragement, and contributions.
Transforming Locally and Globally: STM inspires us to see the mission field everywhere—not just far away but also in our own city, among our neighbours, and within our church family.
Transparency and Unity: We keep our congregation informed about goals and progress. STM isn’t about individuals; it’s about us coming together as one body in Christ.
We want STM to be meaningful and accessible. Here’s how we make it happen:
Participants’ Role:
Individuals fundraise to cover 80% of their total costs (e.g., travel expenses) through church contributions.
Church’s Support:
We fully cover STM registration fees.
The church family will work together to fundraise, fostering unity and shared responsibility.
Fundraising Together:
Weekly updates on fundraising progress will be shared alongside regular tithing updates.
Donations made to the STM project will receive tax receipts, emphasizing the joy of giving sacrificially from the heart (2 Corinthians 9:7).
Preparation and Reflection:
Participants will receive training to prepare them spiritually and practically.
After returning, they’ll share their experiences to inspire and involve the church.
Congregational Engagement:
The entire church is invited to pray, give, and encourage those going on missions.
Regular updates about the STM impact will keep the congregation connected and inspired.
Short-term missions remind us of the incredible privilege of being part of God’s work. It’s not about individual efforts but about the church coming together to share His love, both near and far. As we grow in faith and unity, we become a living testimony of His grace.
Let’s step out together—praying, giving, and going—for His glory. May STM inspire us to see every opportunity as a chance to love God, love others, and make His name known.
Let’s go boldly and humbly, trusting in His provision.
“Go and make disciples of all nations.” (Matthew 28:19)
