God is a place of safety for His people.
Parents: The parent and child scheduled for this week will lead us in singing on Sunday. Please take time to practice the songs together at home, helping your child feel confident and joyful as they prepare to lead.
Parents: Please encourage your children to bring an offering to church. You may help your child prepare by setting aside a coin or bill for them to bring on Sunday. This is a great opportunity to teach them about giving to God with a thankful heart and trusting Him to provide.
Offering is when we give something to God to show our love and thankfulness. In church, we often give money as an offering, but we can also give our time, talents, and kindness to God and others.
1️⃣ To Thank God – Everything we have comes from God! Giving back is a way to say, “Thank You, God!”
2️⃣ To Trust God – When we give, we show that we trust God to take care of us.
3️⃣ To Help Others – Offerings help the church teach about Jesus, help people in need, and share God’s love.
The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 9:7,
"God loves a cheerful giver!" That means God is happy when we give with a joyful heart!
Prayer for Offering 🙏
"Dear God, thank You for giving us everything we need. We want to give back to You with joyful hearts. Please use our offering to help others and share Your love. Help us to always trust You. In Jesus’ name, Amen!"
Hold up a helmet, umbrella, or blanket and ask:
"What do these things do?"
(Answers: They protect us! They keep us safe!)
"But can they protect you from everything? From sadness? From feeling afraid?"
"Today, we will learn about the BEST protection—God is our refuge and strength!"
📖 Psalm 46:1 – "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble."
🔹 David’s Trouble:
"A long time ago, David had big problems. King Saul was jealous of him and wanted to hurt him."
"David had to hide in caves, run to the mountains, and even pretend to be crazy! But he still wasn’t safe."
(Act afraid) "What do you think David did when he was scared?" (Let kids guess!)
🔹 David’s Refuge:
"David prayed and trusted in God! He wrote songs about God being his refuge."
Psalm 46:1 says: "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble."
"David didn’t need a big castle—he had something better. He had God!"
🔹 Jesus is Our Refuge Today:
"Just like David, we all have troubles—maybe we're scared, sad, or make mistakes."
"But just like David, we can trust that God is always with us!"
Jesus is our refuge! When we trust in Him, we have help in every situation.

"What did David do when he was in trouble?" (He prayed to God!)
"What does ‘refuge’ mean?" (A safe place!)
"How can we ‘run’ to God when we need help?" (Pray, read the Bible, trust Jesus.)
🏗 Materials (one per child):
Brown lunch bag (for the "tower")
Strip of paper labeled "God is my refuge"
Markers, stickers, glue/tape
🛠 Steps:
Decorate the lunch bags to look like a tower.
Write the memory verse (Psalm 46:1) on the tower.
Glue "God is my refuge" as a banner on top.
Say: “Whenever you feel scared or need help, remember—God is our refuge!"
🏃 Setup:
Place a "Strong Tower" (box, chair, or printed picture) at one side of the room.
When you call out a “trouble,” kids run to the tower for safety.
🗣 Say:
"If you are afraid at night—run to the refuge!" (Kids run to the tower.)
"If you are sad—run to the refuge!"
"If you need help—run to the refuge!"
End with: "Who is our true refuge?" (Answer: GOD!)
👏 Wrap-up:
"Just like in this game, we should run to God whenever we are in trouble!"
Let kids recite Psalm 46:1 together one last time!
🙌 Prayer:
"Dear God, thank You for being our refuge and strength. Help us to trust You when we are in trouble. Thank You for Jesus, our safe place. Amen!"
