Winter Storm Response Plan
Winter Storm Response Plan
November 23, 2024
The decision to activate the Simplified Service will be made by 6 PM, Saturday, November 23.
This will allow sufficient time for communication and preparation for both in-person and online participation.
This decision will be based on the following criteria:
Weather Conditions:
Accumulated snow greater than 20 cm.
Forecasted freezing rain or high winds creating dangerous travel conditions.
A Level 2 or higher city weather emergency declared by authorities.
Road Safety:
Hazardous road conditions reported by local transportation or emergency services.
Risk of vehicles getting stuck or stranded in snow or ice.
Travel Feasibility:
Ability of the Pickup Truck Driver to safely transport the service response team to the church.
Congregation Accessibility:
The likelihood that a significant portion of the congregation cannot safely attend in person.
If activated, the Simplified Service will consist of the following:
Service Response Team:
A Pastor: To lead the worship and deliver the message.
A Translator: To ensure another language support during the service.
An AV Team Member: To manage sound and streaming for both in-person and online attendees.
A Pickup Truck Driver: To safely transport the pastor, translator, and AV team member to the church if road conditions are challenging for smaller vehicles.
Service Format:
Time: 10:30 am
Duration: 45–60 minutes
Focus: Prayer, sing praises, scripture reading, and a sermon
Note: There will be no Sunday School classes, including both Cantonese Adult and Children classes, available during the Simplified Service.
Families with children are encouraged to worship together either in-person or online.
